Yes, I know you probably have heard it before that having a good diet will indeed lessen your anxiety. It is a “Duh” statement. Well, not entirely does this always lessen anxiety, it just allows your body to better cope with it. You have to have a good and clean canvas before you can actually paint right? So, same reasoning applies here. Eating certain foods and drinking things that aren’t caffeinated can go along way, it can help give you that clean canvas to deal with your anxiety. What you eat can have more affect on the anxiety you are dealing with than you may know. The worser your diet the harder it is to deal with anxiety you are facing. Eating certain foods such as foods that contain a lot of sugars or drinks that are sugary is like rubbing salt into a wound.
Caffeine is especially bad as it a stimulant which means it increase activity of the central nervous system and the body. You are already so alert and restless, consuming caffeine will only worsen the situation because it cause you to be jittery and restlessness in an already high anxiety inducing situation.
